The Prize, which comes with a 10,000 Euro grant, is awarded by the board of trustees of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DGK) based on a proposal and presented during the opening ceremony of the annual conference in Mannheim. The recipient is selected by the DGK's board of trustees.
