Navigated Spinal Surgery

In standard cases, the placement of spinal implants can be safely performed following anatomic landmarks and using intraoperative fluoroscopy.

The use of computer navigation increases safety and precision in anatomically challenging situations and for complex instrumentations.

Especially in cases with poor fluoroscopic visibility (osteoporosis, deformities and high body mass index) the advantages can be considerable.

In addition, it makes procedures possible that would be difficult to perform safely without navigation.

For our spinal navigation, we use the SpineAssist™ device, which combines computer-based planning and navigation with robotic guidance intraoperatively.
