The TROPICAL-ACS (TESTING RESPONSIVENESS TO PLATELET INHIBITION ON CHRONIC ANTIPLATELET TREATMENT FOR ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROMES) Trial (Clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT01959451) was initiated by our group in 2013. This study is an investigator-initiated, prospective, randomized, parallel-group, open-label, multicentre trial (IIT) designed to evaluate the benefits of personalized antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute coronary syndromes treated with percutaneous coronary intervention. The study will enrol 2600 patients from > 30 investigational centres across Europe and aims at investigating a safe way of de-escalating the antiplatelet treatment in ACS patients undergoing PCI.
