The AFNET-EORP AF Registry is a prospective, multicentre, long-term registry for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) in Germany, which is conducted in cooperation with the German Atrial Fibrillation Competence Network (AFNET e.V.) and the German Cardiac Society, and is part of the EURObservational Research Programme (EORP) AF Long-term Registry of the ESC. The objective is to obtain a representative assessment of the contemporary management of AF in clinical practice and to investigate outcomes with focus on new treatment options and adherence to treatment guidelines. The registry comprises a total of 3500 patients with AF enrolled at
134 study sites representing all levels of medical care in Germany. Follow-up of patients will be for 3 years.

The project is partially funded by the DZHK (Deutsches Zentrum für Herz-Kreislauf-Forschung e.V., http://dzhk.de).
