Endocrine Research

Welcome to the homepage of the Endocrine Research Unit.

One major scientific focus of our group is to unravel mechanisms involved in the regulation of growth and differentiation of the adrenal cortex during development, during adaptation in the adult organism and in the context of adrenal tumorigenesis. General concepts recognized as relevant in adrenal tumors are further assessed in other endocrine tumor entities in suitable in vitro and in vivo models. Complementary to this model based research molecular characterization and expression profiling in a variety of patients’ tumor samples are performed and correlated with clinical data and outcome measures. A further focus of research engages in investigation of interrelations between adipocyte tissue and endocrine systems which are explored in cellular and animal models.

In close cooperation with national and international partners we are aiming to gain insides in disease relevant mechanisms that translate into improvement of care after testing in clinical studies.
