Ward C4 | Specialist ward for addiction disorders

Doctor in charge

PD Dr. med. Gabi Koller (Consultant)

Our ward has 22 inpatient beds. We offer day care in the ’Addiction day care unit‘, which works closely with the ward. A team of doctors, psychologists, nurses and social workers ensures that patients receive optimal treatment and care.

Main priorities

The ward focusses on qualified detoxification. This includes physical withdrawal on the one hand and initial therapeutic measures to motivate patients to remain abstinent in the long term on the other.

In case of problems with alcohol, medicines, illegal drugs and pathological gambling we offer detoxification and stabilisation treatments. This also applies to concomitant use, i.e. the use of addictive substances while receiving substitution medication.

Treatment concept

The following treatment modules are available for our patients:

  • Medical detoxification treatment and diagnosis of organic diseases (laboratory, ECG, EEG, sonography, additional diagnostics if necessary)
  • Diagnosis and treatment of concomitant illnesses (both physical and mental)
  • Individual and group therapies
  • Occupational therapy
  • Exercise therapy
  • Smoking groups
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Depression group
  • Individual psychotherapeutic consultations
  • Advice on and organisation of follow-up treatment
  • Social counselling
  • Relapse prevention with medicine
  • Conversations with relatives and arrangement of assistance
  • Processing of relapses
  • Contact with self-help groups

Our aim is to be a place to turn to in crisis situations that enables new perspectives.

We study the neurobiological basis of addiction illnesses to increase knowledge about these disorders and improve treatment options.

Every Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. we host the ’Wednesday group‘, an information event where you can get to know the ward without having to register.
