Specialist outpatient clinic for sport psychiatry

Doctor in charge

PD Dr. med. Alkomiet Hasan

Dr. med. Astrid Röh, Dipl.-Sportwiss. Moritz Lembeck

Many top athletes are under immense pressure to perform. In some athletes, this pressure puts such a strain on the psyche that they seek professional help. We provide this help at our outpatient clinic. Our psychiatrists and psychotherapists are familiar with the extreme physical and mental stress of competitive sports. They also bear in mind the special living circumstances of these athletes – e.g. training plans and the media environment.
In our specialist clinic we provide low-threshold, professional psychiatric-psychotherapeutic diagnostic assessments and treatments in a very discrete environment.

Below you can find answers to the most important questions about our outpatient clinic:

What kind of patients do we see?

Only top athletes, no amateur or hobby athletes.

Do I need to have a diagnosis already?

No. You can also come to us if you want us to check whether you have a mental illness. We will conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments.

What happens at the outpatient clinic?

We will have a detailed initial conversation with you that will include a discussion of the subsequent diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Please bring any previous findings with you.

How often do I have to go to the outpatient clinic?

That varies and depends on the individual athlete and the illness. One appointment may be enough!

Do I have to register beforehand, and/or do I need a referral?

Please only come to the clinic after you have registered and made an appointment! And please bring a referral from your general practitioner with you.

Can I participate in studies?

We would be happy if you would participate in our studies.
