We help patients suffering from early psychiatric symptoms that may progress to an episode of psychosis or other mental illnesses. Early detection and preventive treatment can prevent or delay the onset of mental illness and enhance recovery should episodes occur.

The PRONIA early diagnosis outpatient clinic contains an experienced, competent team that offers detailed diagnostics for both early-stage psychoses and other mental illnesses,  such as depression. We treat our patients individually with a biopsychosocial perspective within the scope of preventive psychiatry.

The Neurodiagnostic Procedures and Preventive Psychiatry Section also develops computer models that can assess the risk of psychosis, depression, and poor outcomes. We are also developing new prediction models and biomarkers that can predict the prognosis of mental illnesses and the individual response to a therapy. In the future, these procedures will help doctors and psychologists to better recognise the course of the disease and treat it accordingly.

WHAT DO WE OFFER IN THE OUTPATIENT CLINIC?

  • An experienced team of doctors and psychologists who are specially trained in the early diagnosis of mental illness
  • Prompt appointments
  • Detailed consultation
  • Comprehensive clarification of possible physical causes
  • Educational events at schools together with school psychologists and teachers.

EARLY DIAGNOSIS AND TIMELY CLARIFICATION IS IMPORTANT FOR AN INDIVIDUAL AND PREVENTIVE TREATMENT

The Early Detection Outpatient Clinic together with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department at LMU provides quick advice and comprehensive diagnostic clarification. Early identification of a potential psychotic illness is critical in order to help people who are experiencing distressing symptoms.
