Mission and Emphasis

Global environment and health in populations-research – policy-science link – dissemination

  • To assess environmental stressors throughout life course for predicting health outcomes, including omics technology (exposome).
  • To explore case studies on consequential epidemiology, globally in mercury exposed gold mining areas.
  • To obtain relevant information to support capacity building and strengthen health care systems in small-scale gold mining areas.
  • To provide policy makers with adequate data for risk assessment, especially with burden of disease studies.
  • To improve understanding of the development of respiratory health during life course.
  • To assess determinants of respiratory health in critical periods with a specific focus on greenness and built environment, occupational exposure and health inequality by social factors.
  • To improve knowledge of health care professionals in climate change-related health risks for vulnerable groups such as children and elderly persons.
