Projects with IPPG participation
In clinical genetic research principle researchers e.g. geneticists and epidemiologists closely collaborate with physicians in clinical practise. So far research has mainly focused on diagnostic groups, namely if somebody suffers from schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Anyhow, of far greater importance for patients, relatives and medical practitioners is the key question, whether and how somebody responds to therapeutic measures or how symptomatology changes over time.
At the IPPG we are primarily interested in possible genetical and neurobiological determinants of the course of severe psychiatric disorders. The findings of this research will contribute to the knowledge, why relapses occur under hitherto existing therapeutic strategies and why single patients do not respond to specific treatment processes.
