For patients

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

the Institute of Psychiatric Phemomics and Genomics (IPPG) is devoted to investigate a so far insufficiently considered aspect in medical research of severe psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or unipolar depression: the longitudinal course. Although since years the molecular biological basis of these disorders has been thoroughly investigated with clinical and molecular biological techniques and strategies, these approaches could yet not explain causes or the individually highly differing courses of these diseases.

We specifically focus on these aspects in two research networks funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG):

  • the interdisciplinary Clinical Research Group 241 “Genotype-phenotype relationships and neurobiology of the longitudinal course of psychosis”. The network was initiated at the University Medical Center Göttingen in 2012 and with establishment of the IPPG meanwhile also is anchored at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich
  • plus its successional project PsyCourse distributed  among Munic and Göttingen with a respective focus.

The succes of our research is highly dependent on the assistance of the many patients participating in our longitudinal studies not only in Munich in Göttingen but also at more than 20 clinical partner sites in Germany and Austria. We would be very pleased to gain you as study participant and, of course, would inform you on regular basis about our research topics you allow us to cover. Here you can take a look on our first newsletter (German only).

Looking forward to your support with best regards,

You IPPG team
