Scientific Environment

Munich with its two “Elite Universities” LMU and TUM, several Clusters of Excellence such as the Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich CIPSM, three Max-Planck Institutes (Biochemistry, Neurobiology and Psychiatry) and the Helmholtz Centre Munich is an internationally recognized hub for neuroscience and biomedical research.


Research Facilities

Apart from partners within ISD there are several outstanding research facilities and collaborative programs with a focus relevant to ISD activities most of which are located on Campus Großhadern-Martinsried.

Major partners are listed on the right. The Campus further hosts the Munich Biotech Cluster m4 – “Spitzencluster” for Personalized Medicine.


Educational Programs

There are several outstanding educational programs with a focus relevant to ISD activities including the Graduate School for Systemic Neuroscience (GSK 82), the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences, and several graduate colleges and graduate programs including an MD/PhD program (For a full overview visit the graduate center)
