Strategic white matter tracts in vascular cognitive impairment

May 14 NeurologyA study conducted by ISD investigators highlights the relevance of lesion location in vascular cognitive impairment (VCI). Voxel-based lesion-symptom mapping and Bayesian network analysis identified two major white matter tracts as strategically important: the anterior thalamic radiation and the forceps minor. These findings highlight the role of frontal interhemisheric and thalamic projection fibre tracts in VCI (Duering et al. Neurology 2014 & accompanying editorial).
