Final workshop and conference of Immutrain in Madrid at CNIO from 23th to 26th July 2019

26.07.2019 - The final conference of Immutrain took place at CNIO in Madrid and addressed the achievements of three years of research: “Progress and challenges of Immune Therapy. Experience of the European Training Network Immutrain”.

The project leaders of Immutrain and international guest speakers presented their results in front of more than 100 attendees. Three Early Stage Researchers, Siret Tahk, Abbass Darwich and Mohamed-Reda Benmebarek, who had been selected during the Immutrain’s competition for abstracts, gave also a talk on their work and achievements.

The last two days have been dedicated to career development: The ESR had the opportunity to learn from the experience of experts in the field of publishing, patent, biotech and investment before holding a pitch on their profile, research and career objectives. We thank Patricia Salama, EU patent specialist at Elzaburu, Joao Monteiro, editor at Nature Medicine, Gema Fuerte Hortigón, European field application specialist at Mission Bio, Carolina Pola, director of innovation at CNIO, Raúl Martin-Ruiz, partner at Ysios Capital, Julen Oryazabal, partner at Columbus Venture Partners and Ana B Irigaray, regulatory affairs director at Pharmamar. The event closed with one to one meetings to deepen the exchanges and to build bridges for future professional cooperation.

We all thank very much Marisol Soengas, Marta Contreras and Xavier Catena who have not only ensured a terrific program but also selected delightful places for the social events. This memory will stay along with an emotional moment, as Stefan Endres, coordinator of Immutrain, took the floor to take a leave of all Early Stage Researchers. This was the end of series of ten European trainings hold from 2016 to 2019 in Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Paris, Nijmegen and Madrid. The members of Immutrain and the followers of our program can keep on staying in touch on the LinkedIn page of Immutrain.
