About Us

The German Center for Vertigo and Balance Disorders is an interdisciplinary Center for Research and Treatment of Vertigo, Balance and Ocular Motor Disorders. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research within the framework of ther Integrated Research and Treatment Centers program (funding reference number: EO 0901).

The aim of the Center is to establish a patient-oriented interdisciplinary research institution in which different methods (from molecular to system analysis and mathematical modeling) are used to tackle the following fields of research:

With the funding of clinical research centers for specific pathological entities, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research aims to support eligible initiatives at medical faculties and university hospitals within the framework of the government program "Health Research: Research for the People". The intention is to fund innovative research and treatment centers, in which top-level clinical research on specific pathological entities is promoted by an integrative collaboration of clinical research and patient care at the highest level.

The aim of the Integrated Research and Treatment Centers is to increase academic competitiveness and to promote a more intensive use of the available resources for high-performing fields and, at the same time, an effective transfer of research results to clinical practice.
