(Friday and Saturday)
Dear Colleagues,
This Sixth Master Class of the German Center for Vertigo and Balance Disorders and the European DIZZYNET on vestibular, ocular motor and balance disorders covers the clinically relevant aspects of peripheral, central and functional vestibular disorders. We will present the basics in particular for beginners and an update, based on recent research, in particular for more advanced.
On day one – after an introduction on the bedside examination the vestibular system and laboratory tests - the diagnosis, pathophysiology and etiology and the current treatment options of the six most frequent peripheral as well central and functional vestibular diseases are covered by plenary talks. Thereby, also the current diagnostic criteria for each disease of the Bárány Society are presented.
On day two there are two blocks of 90 min each with clinical hands-on courses in small groups, e.g., on how to perform the bedside examination of the vestibular and ocular motor system and on how to use and apply important laboratory examinations such as the video-head impulse test, vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials.
This Educational Master Class has two major aims: first, increasing knowledge and improving practical skills; second discussing and establishing international standards for the management of dizzy patients.
